Pizhichil
Pizhichil, also known as "Thailadhara," is a classical Ayurvedic therapy that combines two traditional techniques: "Sneha" (oil massage) and "Swedana" (sudation or sweating). In Sanskrit, "Pizhichil" means "squeezing" or "to squeeze." This therapy involves the continuous pouring of warm medicated oil over the body while simultaneously massaging the oil into the skin. During a Pizhichil session, the individual lies on a special wooden table called "Droni," and the therapist gently massages the body with rhythmic movements using their hands. Meanwhile, warm medicated oil is poured in a continuous stream over the body from a special vessel known as "Kindi." The oil used in Pizhichil is typically a blend of various herbs and oils chosen based on the individual's Ayurvedic constitution (Prakriti) and specific health needs.
